President Arlene and I have been busy since her installation. We attended the Illinois State Fair and helped at the American Legion Family Membership Table. We have presented eight forums over the state to inform our members on the programs of our organization and to collect membership. The department theme for membership is: “Leading the Way by Building a Brighter Future.” We appreciate ALL members and the efforts we all put forth. We continually work diligently for the benefit of our veterans, current military, and their families. We will be presenting traveling pins to our top district and division presidents and vices.

We need to retain and encourage new membership. We need to remember to treat all members with respect and kindness at all times. Your actions to a new member may be the deciding factor to their decision if they come back or drop their membership. The department officers and the Membership Chairman are only a phone call away to help organize a new unit or to revitalize a unit with problems. Please utilize these people too help you and if you know of any others that need help, let us know.
