Youth Police School

Check out The American Legion National Magazine article about this program!

Springfield, IL - The 2016 Youth Police School was held June 26th to July 1st with 48 cadets attending, 15 were girls. This is a joint venture with The American Legion Family, Illinois State Police, Department of Military Affairs and other police departments from the area. The cadets were from throughout the state and from many different backgrounds. Cadets had the opportunity to seek answers to questions that will help them better understand why police officers take certain actions. Youth ages 14, 15 and 16 are eligible to attend. The ISP Officers, Legion Family Members and others volunteer to be part of this program, and return year after year. There is a wide variety of class room instruction and demonstrations in areas of crime scene investigations, SWAT team along with Americanism and lots of opportunity for fun. It truly is life changing. Plan now to send youth to the 2017 school.
