Hospital Service is recorded separately. Hospital Service is provided to a veteran at a VA facility. Illinois Veterans Home is Service to Veterans.
Information regarding services will be printed in the September issue of the ALA Today. Please inform the Units that there will be more information printed in the ALA Today as I am going to try and have something in each issue. Remember all information can be obtained thru the National Website.
Volunteer hours run from April 1 to March 31. Donations made to the facilities this year will be April 1 to March 31. This will make the fiscal year of recording of hours and donations the same time frame.
The Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation: A Guide for Volunteers is available by contacting the Department Office. Cost is $3.00 If you have any questions, please call me.
The Department Awards are as follows:
Pat’s Knights Plaque – To the Student/Volunteen of the Year, entry sent to National, or to the Junior Volunteer acquiring the most hours in the VA&R program.
$15.00 - To the VAVS volunteer serving the greatest number of hours, excluding Representatives/Deputies.
$15.00 - To the “Service to Veterans” volunteer serving the greatest number of hours for a Junior.
$15.00 - To the “Service to Veterans” volunteer serving the greatest number of hours for a Senior.
$10.00 – To the Unit donating the most tangible items (credits earned) to a VAMC.
$10.00 – Unit donating the most tangible items (credits earned) to an Illinois Veterans Home.
$10.00 - Illinois Veterans Home volunteer serving the most hours for the year excluding Representatives/Deputies.
